# Charities like other organisations regularly fall victim to frauds. A new website at http://charitiesagainstfraud.org.uk/ gives useful guidance to help prevent this
Some tips to help reduce your charity’s vulnerability to fraud include:
- Develop a strong counter fraud culture where staff are encouraged to play their part in the fight against fraud.
- Have in place and robustly apply internal financial controls. (we can draft appropriate policies)
- Encourage staff to voice concerns.
- Have a fraud response plan so that everyone knows what to do and when – stay calm but act quickly when incidents do occur.
- Ensure you report incidents to Action Fraud and to the #Charity Commission, via the dedicated reporting facility: RSI@charitycommission.gsi.gov.uk.
