. There are 4 options and you have to choose one to set up:-
- a trust
- an unincorporated body (association)
- a company limited by guarantee
- a charitable incorporated association
What we do
The Charity Commission and OSCR both have very strict regulations concerning what is a charitable activity. We ensure that the charitable objects are correctly drafted to suit your activities. We also advise regarding payment of trustees as not all trustees can be paid. Conflicts of interest for trustees is an area the Commission is particularly keen to deal with. We guide you through these and other issues you have to satisfy to become a registered charity.
We obtain all required information from you to enable us to complete and process the application documents. We endeavour to make registration of a charity an easy process and to take the stress and time involved in such applications away from you. We generally oversee the matter dealing with all correspondence from the Charities Commission or OSCR .
We can advise on any ancillary documents required in some cases eg child protection policies if you deal directly with children or grant giving policies if you will be a fund giving charity only.
Post registration we can advise on and draft the good governance policies available to ensure the charity eliminates risks which could lead to investigation by the Charity Commission.
Fees
Our fees to discuss the organisation best suited for you and then set it up and register as a charity with Charity Commission or OSCR are £995 plus vat of £199 making a total of £1194. Half the fees are payable in advance and the balance once you are registered. (We can discuss monthly instalments if preferred.)
If you already have an organisation set up with a satisfactory governing constitutional document then we will quote for dealing with the matter once we have viewed the document.
If you have made a charity registration application yourself and got into difficulty with questions raised by the Charity Commission, we can provide professional advice and support just call us for a quote.
Gift Aid
If you wish to register with HMRC ( a separate process from registration with Charity Commission or OSCR) in order to claim gift aid relief for donations to your charity then our fees are £275 plus vat of £55 =£330.
Our competitors
Please beware of competitors who offer “charity” companies but do not draft charitable objects or give guidance on matters such as payment of directors. This will result in delay and greater expense being incurred later when amending documents. They do not have instant availability by telephone for assistance and few actually deal with the charity registration process in any event. We will guide you through the process (including help answering all questions raised by the Charity Commission) through to obtaining a charity number. You also need to check competitors fees are for the whole process and will not be subject to “add ons” as you move through the process.
