Conversion of community benefit society to charity.

Many community benefit  societies (previously  known as industrial and provident societies) are considering converting into a company limited by guarantee and seeking charity registration on conversion.

We advise on all aspects of the conversion including preparation of the new governing document (articles), advising on the members’ resolutions, complying with the application requirements of the Financial Conduct Authority, Companies House, the Charity Commission and the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator for Scottish organisations.

Conversion to a charity can be critical because the public are more likely to donate to registered charities and organisations and major funders may be more willing to give grants of sums of money to the charity.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for discussion and advice on how to register as a charity in the UK.
